Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri is an Indian actress, who gained fame for her role in Hum Aapke Hain Koun and Beta Saajan. In the late 80s the actress began her acting career, and was popular with the role of Tezaab, in which she starred with veteran actor Anil Kapooor. Next, she appeared with Aamir in Dil. Early on, as a teenager in Mumbai's middle class she started to dance. She started acting when young and fought through a couple of years since most of her initial films were flops. Eventually, she found success with Indian film and climbed to the very top. After her marriage, she took some time to rest from her acting career until she returned. More recently she played an integral part in the movie Gulaab Gang which was about the challenges faced by women across India. Dixit was nominated for 15 Filmfare Awards, out of which she won eight. Padma Shri was awarded to Dixit, India's fourth highest civil honor. The award was also given to her for her work in the social sector.
