Maggie Grace is an American actress born Margaret Grace Denig in 1983. Her most famous roles include Shannon Rutherford, a character on ABC's Lost series and Kim Mills from the Taken trilogy. Born in Worthington Ohio she quit high school to move into Los Angeles with her mother following her divorce from her parents. In 2001, despite her financial struggles it was possible to secure her first big part in the web-based video show Rachel's Room in the role of Rachel's Room's main character. Following her win of a Young Artist Award in 2002 for her performance as Murder on the streets of Greenwich of 15 year young Martha Moxley as a murder victim, she went on to win. In 2004, Grace was cast as Shannon Rutherford in the television series Lost in which she was the main character for the initial two seasons, and was awarded an award called the Screen Actors Guild Award shared with the cast of the ensemble. Grace, who had worked together with Tom Welling on The Fog during 2005, was looking to go into the world of film. She appeared in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club (both 2007) and also starred alongside Liam Neeson as Kim Mills in Taken in 2008. The actress reprised her character for Taken 2 (2011) and Taken 3 (2013).She also played Alice in Malice in Wonderland, a contemporary adaptation of Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace was back on the Lost series for the last two episodes, playing Shannon. The year 2013 saw Grace appear in Californianation, the sixth season. She is Faith, a groupie who serves as a model for celebrities and attracts the attention of Hank Moody (David Duchovny). She is a member of the Gyllenhaal family, she's the daughter and older sister to actor Jake Gyllenhaal. She started her acting career as a teenager with small roles in several of her father's films and appeared with her brother in the famous cult classic Donnie Darko (2001). She also was featured as a character in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. She also appeared in Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal won critical praise for her performance as a lead character in Secretary (2002) as well as in Sherrybaby (2006), which is an erotic romantic drama as well as Sherrybaby (2006). The actress was also nominated for her fellow actors for the Golden Globe Award. Following several commercially-successful films, like World Trade Center in 2006 her fame grew for her role as Rachel Dawes (the superhero) in The Dark Knight (2007). Her performance in Crazy Heart as a mother with a single child was nominated in an Academy Award Best Supporting Actress. Her subsequent roles include Nanny McPhee, the Big Bang and Hysteria. The other roles she played were the role of a Secret Service agent in the action-thriller White House Down (2013) and a musician in the film Frank (2014) as well as The title role in the film The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). Gyllenhaal made her debut as a writer and director in 2021, with the psycho-drama The Lost Daughter. For this film she was awarded with the Best Screenplay Award at the Venice International Film Festival and was nominated for an Academy Award.
