Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson born to British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby & Chris Watson in Paris, France. When she was five, she relocated from London to Oxfordshire to attend The Dragon School. Emma was only six when she realized she wanted to become an actress. She trained for several years in Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a Part-time theatre school located in Oxford in which she learned acting as well as singing. As part of a school production and the stage of a Stagecoach production, Emma took her role as lead actress at 10 and performed. Casting began in 1999 to cast Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the film adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was discovered by agents through her Oxford teacher. David Heyman, the producer of Harry Potter Harry Potter's Sorcerer's Stone and Ron Weasley told Emma after eight auditions that she had been chosen for these characters. The cast included Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. Emma's first screen appearance came with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone's release in 2001. The most successful film of 2001 it set new records for its debut day sales as well as opening weekend takings. Reviewers praised the film, particularly those who were young. The widely distributed British paper The Daily Telegraph called her performances admirable. Emma's performance was nominated and later won awards for the movie.
